Mr. Hogan left Thelen in 1991 to start his own practice where he hired Leslie Holmes. Ms. Holmes and Mr. Hogan worked together for more than 10 years prior to starting HH & U in July 2003 with Stephen Usoz a well-established San Jose attorney. With deep roots in the Silicon Valley legal community and commitment to local bar activities including many pro bono matters, the firm's attorneys are well known by the local judiciary in both state and federal courts. As a result, in addition to its own clients, the firm often acts as local counsel for out of area firms in need of local expertise.

HH & U's diverse practice encompasses handling complex business disputes, including intellectual property matters (these matters encompass patent, trademark and copyright), licensing transactions and vendor-customer contract disputes. The firm also has expertise in professional malpractice claims and construction matters, as well as experience in patent prosecution, immigration and specialized family law matters. A significant portion of Mr. Hogan's practice also includes acting as a mediator and arbitrator.
